Tim Gudgion – your Driving Instructor
I have been helping people learn to drive or to improve their driving skills for over ten years, and, in all, I have over twenty-four years’ experience in teaching young adults.
After completing my degree in Psychology at what was then Middlesex Polytechnic (now known as the University of Middlesex), I began my working life teaching adults with learning disabilities. For a short time I was an Assistant Psychologist with Dorset Healthcare before going on to become a NVQ Trainer and Assessor working with care workers. Later, I spent some time as a freelance teacher of Information Technology working at Bournemouth and Poole College and with other skills training organisations such as ‘Learndirect’.
Fully qualified Driving Instructor since 2005
I qualified as a Driving Instructor in 2005 and I have operated as an independent driving school ever since. Learning styles can vary greatly and my background in psychology and training has given me an appreciation of the need to be flexible and innovative in helping people develop their skills.
In 2013 I took the National Diploma in Advanced Driving Instruction with the Royal Society for the Prevention of Accidents (RoSPA) which is based on the techniques used for police driver training. This qualification developed my effectiveness as a driver trainer and allows me to teach my customers to a higher level.
“…you are able to drive at a level that is significantly higher than the standard required for the Driving Test.”
I now incorporate advanced driving techniques in all the courses I offer and I believe this enables my customers to drive with a greater degree of competence (and thus, safety) than is the case with the average driving school. If you take a Driving Test after learning with me I will do my best to ensure that you are able to drive at a level that is significantly higher than the standard required for the Driving Test. Therefore you will be more likely to pass first time and you will be better equipped to deal with whatever situation confronts you on the road after your test.
Many driving schools employ trainee Driving Instructors who will naturally be less experienced than a fully qualified Instructor. With my Driving School you will only be taught by me.
